Yes most 'dance music' serves a purpose alright.. filling up our ears with more mechanical unfeeling garbage to further separate ourselves from our own humanity. Lowering the bar is just a dumbing down process to make us happy with less, makes us easier to control. 'Dance Music' doesn't have to be crap .. I don't know why people embrace that idea. I didn't say I dislike synth orientated music, dumb ass. I said most synth music is shit, because most of it is. Most people who make it, use the technology as a crutch to continue to shit out 'thump thump thump' type crap. Did you not read my post? Actually it's funny you mentioned Imogen Heap, because IAMX, which is mostly 'synth orientated music' collaborated with her on a very cool piece of music. You need to learn to read better.

Yeah, they're good musicians .. If you like fusion of rock, acoustic, glam, and electro .. you should check out IAMX or even some of his older stuff he did with Sneaker Pimps after they kicked the female singer out. He mixes all that shit together .. to me, this song isn't exactly a fusion of anything.. it's just an acoustic song. The reason why most musicians don't do that is because most electronic musicians suck and can't play real instruments.. probably why their synth music is just as bland

Why? Good song writing isn't about what instrument you use or the type of production you employ.. That's all texture and surface aesthetic, it's important, but the foundation is melody, chord progressions, rhythm, lyrics and phrasing. Why shouldn't someone who plays a synth be just as competent at playing an acoustic guitar?
