Always liked this song. I was reading about this song and it was noted that on June 16, 1956 "The Wayward Wind" knocked Elvis' " Don't Be Cruel" out of the # 1 spot and stayed on top until July 28, 1956 when Elvis' "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" took back # 1. "The Wayward Wind" was also # 1 in the UK. The song ranks # 36 in overall popularity/sales in the last 5 decades.

What a gorgeous woman when she recorded it in the 50s. And to see her sing it beautifully, still gorgeous.Kudos.

Always loved this song..........especially travelling across the desert southwest and Death Valley.Gives you a sense of how big and lonely the country is......sort of puts things into a special perspective

Are you kidding me - This lady sings almost better than she did back in 1956. I only hope I can have as much energy when I'm 80. The "Wayward Wind" was the first song that I remember really liking - I was about 8 years old and every time it came on the radio, I became immobilized until it ended. I still remember, vividly, several instances of listening to that song ... funny, I have never seen her picture until today - very nice. Songs like that had big influences on my music - although I've never had a hit ... yet - Haha!

I've heard Gogi sing this in 1956 and this in 2004 is the very best rendition she ever did, Sh's over ninety years old now and I wonder if she is alive?

I was 12 the first time I heard this song and a few days later I saw her picture . I fell like a ton of bricks and for months she was my everything . tonite I saw the picture and heard her again for the first time in years and again the bottom almost dropped out of me . she looks every bit as awesome tonite as she did 60 odd years ago . so very love to look at and listen too .

Wow, that was amazing energy for 80 years old. So many superstars have lost their voice by then, but she still sounded as great as ever.

That unwavering voice remained with her throughout her life...what a great gift...the beauty on the outside remained through her voice throughout her life...

I loved this song as a kid because I identified with the "guy" she is singing about. I grew up in a very poor area and couldn't wait to get away. The idea that something better was always around the next bend. I finally got over that when I got to college, but this song was always in my heart when things got tough. I learned to toughen up myself and to face things rather than move on. My wife and I just celebrated our 46th anniversary, but I will always love this song... and Gogi was quite a heartthrob back in those days too.

This was a country song . Tex ritter had a version as well as several other artists but Gogi's version was the biggest hit staying at #1 on the pop charts for weeks in 1956
