"We Close Our Eyes" is a song by British pop band Go West, composed by both members Peter Cox and Richard Drummie. It was the first single from their debut album Go West. "Missing Persons", also from the album, was a B-side. The other B-side was an "opposite song" called "They Open Their Noses". The 12-inch release featured a remix by Julian Mendelsohn. subtitled the "Total Overhang Club Mix".

The single was promoted by a music video directed by Godley & Creme.

The "Total Overhang Club Mix" was later included on the 1985 compilation Bangs & Crashes. The standard version appeared again on Aces and Kings: The Best of Go West in 1993.

"We Close Our Eyes" spent fourteen weeks on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 5 in April 1985. In the United States the single reached 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.

A remix of the song was released in 1993 to promote the Aces and Kings retrospective.

The song was used in the 1985 Italian horror movie Dèmoni.

In live versions of the song, the guitar break in the "Overhang Mixes" is often included.

I blast this along with The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News on a regular basic. Two absolute fist pumping classics!

I was a punk at the time.. Doc Martins.. torn jeans way too short in the leg.. Ex-Military khaki jacket covered in graffiti.. Terribly gaunt face from sniffing too much EvoStick and a massive multicoloured mohican hairdo.. but I had a dirty little secret... It was GoWest.. Sneaking out the Coop with GoWest-GoWest album in a bag, I bumped into all my punk mates.. 'What Album you got in there then?' Never lived it down and credibility shot for life. Probably saved me from a 'sticky' end though ;)

Inside everyone hides one desireOutside no one would knowDanger close to edge of the knifeSafer not to let goAnd while we miss chancesYou can almost hear time slipping awayWe close our eyes we never lose a gameImagination never lets us take the blameWe close our eyes to see the final frameWe close our eyes to time slipping awayNo show Wednesday girl waits with the wineShe knows just what to sayWhile no one listensYou can almost hear time slipping awayWe close our eyes we never lose a gameImagination never lets us take the blameWe close our eyes to see the final frameWe close our eyes andWe can talk to strangersWe are burning with the sparkAnd we can walk on waterWe are tigers in the darkWe are burningWe close our eyesHeroes never give into the nightHe knows how far he can runAnd as he surrendersYou can almost hear time slipping awayWe close our eyes we never lose a gameImagination never lets us take the blameWe close our eyes to see the final frameWe close our eyes
