I thought this was a song written by Rod McKuen. However, when I looked up the author of the song, I found that it was Charles Aznavour. He was a famous French song writer with a great tenor voice similar to Glenn's. This song to a great degree is the story of my life, but not the part of stolen nights and brief romances. I was fortunate to meet the right woman when quite young and will be married to her 41 years this month. But yes, the time goes by seemingly as quickly as the blink of an eye. When we were young, we thought we were immortal; but in our golden years, we know that the end is not far away and that literally any day the thin silver thread that we dangle on could snap, and it will all be over.
