Gillian Welch and David Rawlings perform this lovely waltz which they co-wrote. It is also known as "Dear Someone". They are accompanied by John Hartford on fiddle and Mike Compton on the mandolin. The event is the "Down From The Mountain" concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on May 24, 2000. The event was a celebration of traditional American music and a rollout of sorts for the Coen Brothers film "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Enjoy.

Good grief, when she smiles at Dave at 2:23 when they hit the difficult harmony spot on, it just makes the world a better place.

That's John Hartford on fiddle, one year and one month before he passed. It's poignant how at the end of this amazing performance, John simply turns and walks back into the shadows.

She has her capo on 3 and she is playing C G and an occasional F in there but she hangs on C and G mostly. She is playing it in the key of D with chords shapes of C. I don't know how that works for piano but if you know those chords on piano I bet you could figure it out! Just 1 4 5 in the key of D. (D G A )Good luck and have fun!
