You are probably familiar with the Gilbert / Peggy Lee version of this song from the 1993 album SOUNDS OF THE LOOP . You may not have heard this version from the Scandinavian release of the album where Peggy`s vocal was replaced by the voice of Danish actress / singer Kirsten Siggaard . There`s also a Spanish version ( in my uploads ) and a Japanese version ! I still prefer the Peggy Lee version , but this is interesting to hear .

Here`s a few words from Kirsten herself -

Kirsten Siggaard - Born 7th September 1954

I've always loved to sing and it was natural that I sought admission to a dance orchestra in 1975.

They stood and lacked a singer and I had the car. I had attended George Clevin children broadcast when I was 6 and "Ekstra Bladet plate Chance" as a 18 year old.

The band released 2 singles in 1976, but it was no great success.

It was the contrast when guitarist from the band Søren Bundgaard began writing songs for Melodi Grand Prix and I was allowed to sing demos.

Søren and I were fixtures in the year 1983 - 1988 and we managed to win 3 times -

1984: It 's just what (4th place in Luxemburg)

1985: Dismount 'you ask' from no'en (11th place in Gothenburg)

1988: Ka 'you see huh I said' (3rd place in Dublin)

Søren and I ended our cooperation scene in 1989 when he valgteat devote themselves Producer role.

When you are a familiar face will open doors to other branches inside showbiz and in 1986 I got my first prof Theatre Role - clerk in "Sunstroke". Through the years it has become a lot of exciting projects / performances / concerts .

There is an operatic quality to this that's right up there with anything that's been on Broadway! It would be wonderful if Mr. O'Sullivan would come to the states and maybe he could arrange a concert tour and use some of each cities members of their orchestras. There are many many thousands of fans here, I am one!!! And at least 8 of my friends love him too! I'm 59, and there's lots of us that grew up with O'Sullivans great songs, and hadn't had opportunity to see him live! Please Gilbert!?!?

@100tonee I wouldn`t call it awful. As you say ` interesting ` is probably the best way to describe it . The Peggy Lee version is much more appealing .

awful version, peggy lee one is miles better, but just my opinion. Interesting to hear nevertheless.

@mohawk3881 I know that she doesn't call him Charlie. She never has! So where it comes from I too have no idea!!!

@Krigerskjalden Those words in the information are all from Kirsten herself - not me ! ( It says so above the info ) Maybe she called him Charlie as a nick-name ? I have no idea !

By the way... The English versions of Kirsten & Sørens ESC songs are called: (1984) "Waiting in the rain", (1985) "Catch me if you can" and (1988) "Who is wrong, who is right?"

@mohawk3881 You did great with your information about Kirsten. But I have to ask again; why do you call Søren Bundgaard Charlie? ;) Well, I guess she sang in English because she had done other things in that language. So it is natural to her. :)

@Krigerskjalden It is a great album ! I must admit being English I had no idea who Kirsten was until I did a little research . I added some information about her for anyone who might be interested . I wonder why she sang in English ? The Spanish and Japanese versions are sung in those languages .

@YCSMusic It is a great piece of music regardless of who the vocals are sung by . I still love the Peggy Lee version - it has a certain charm that this version lacks despite Peggy`s ill health at the time . Thanks for the comment .
