LBJ, GWB, and now BHO have all followed the same template. And the rest weren't really much different either.

Waddaya know? This is the Encore to Viet Nam. Millions killed, countless future generations doomed by radioactive dust. Tha devil could not have done more evil. And you wonder why they call the US "the Great Satan"? WAKE UP, ITS NOT A NIGHTMARE, ITS REAL.

I'll bet Tom doesn't score high on the "patriotic" charts.

"George W. told the nation,"This is not an escalation; This is just a surge toward victory.Just to win my little war,I'm sending 20,000 more,To help me save Iraq from Iraqis."The more things change, the more they remain the same, etc.

Usually these songs don't work when recycled. Vietnam was a civil war and there was a draft. That doesn't mean I was for the Iraq war. I wasn't. I marched against with my family before he even invaded. But the song just doesn't work, sorry.

I have lately been thinking about Weapons of MD because we're making eyes at Iran now. Human rights abuses against the religious minorities there, esp the Baha'is have reached such staggering heights that observers are using them to observe the pattern of genocide in progress. Obama has much less to worry about as WMD there than nukes: the true WMD are in the heads of the people running the country. Re Bush: what's better, a Prez who's been duped or a Prez who perpetrated a hoax?

OMG, thought I would split my sides. Except it's tragic that the song he wrote that involved LBJ and VietNam is still relevant today (I guess he could also have framed it around Afghanistan...)

@EagleVendetta Obviously you, me , and some others have. We need a child to say that the king is naked! You have to love the line about "AWOL from the Texas National Guard". What a patriot. How can it be OK that he sent so many of our sons and daughters off to die over faulty intel? HE was the biggest weapon of mass destruction. Didn't even serve his country in the fairly limited and safe way that his family set up for him! Tom, Phil,Pete, Arlo, and so many others have always sung the truth.

@emjee If we want to see the hypocrites, we need look no furthur than the person who brushes our teeth every morning. We continue to allow the military industrial complex to run this show. How many people can tell you to whom is Angelina Jolie is married? Then ask them the name of the vice president of the U.S.A. Compare your results, and realize that this nation has been dumbed down. Forget the Democrats and Republicans, and listen to Eisenhower's warnings in his farewell address.

It's ok Tom Paxton is just updating one of his best oldies, true now as it was in the sixties, still warning us, and guess what, NOBODY IS LISTENING NOW EITHER. There's much money to be made in war, especially these days when we need less boots on the ground. Sad thing is, the ones who die , will be dead forever, to save us from whatever those in power have convinced us to be afraid of this year. However you can be assured, somebody is making a buck! Votes mean little, voices mean much. BE LOUD

@simoncowellscores I think you should have actually listened to some current generation music before you have an opinion about it... Do you even know who "Rage against the Machine" is? every song is politically charged. Eminem wrote a song stating vote against George bush in the next election. Wyclef John (whom is black), wrote a song with a lyric "If I was president, I'd be elected on friday, assassinated on saturday and burried on sunday" and NOFX wrote an album with a title Rock against Bush

Some one at least tells the truth. Paxton sang the truth in the Viet Nam era, and thank God, he is still alive to tell the truth, and sing the truth, now. God will bless you, Tom Paxton, for being truthful.
