Love the prog'iness. Classic Duke, much better than the new stuff, probably because of the instrument and time. Give me a time machine now please...

I agree, and I think it might of had something to do with his affiliation with Zappa. Zappa was never really taken seriously in the public eye, nor did he want to be. And his music obviously reflects that. Its musician music, and I think Duke is honored nonetheless.

Love this tune and Ndugu's tight drumming and sound. There's another tune on the album which has a mystery guitar stomping in. Frank Zappa turns up to deliver one of his greatest and shortest solo's. What's the name of the tune? I had this album for many years but can't remember...

I've been a huge fan....saw him with Zappa. Then at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco 1979....Sheila E., Ndugu, Napoleon, and a host of other greats in the line up. Willie Tyler and Lester opened for them. Stayed for both shows.

The chords he put down are just so progressive. Check out the shit he is putting down 1:57-2:04 !! Check pretty much ANYTHING he did with Cobham on drums. Duke's sense of rhythmic groove is sick. Those two became one whenever they jammed. This tune rocks with Ndugu and Airto, two top-notch musicians!
