Roger Mcguinn and Gene Clark started touring as a duo in late 1977. This is their show at the Capitol Theatre in March, 1978.
First Clark played two songs (one of them featured in this video), then Mcguinn played two songs and then the pair finished off the evening together.
This small scale tour proved quite successful and led to the formation of Mcguinn, Clark & Hillman when Chris Hillman joined the pair in 1978.

I listened to Gene Clark play this song live in 1978 in Wellington,New Zealand backed by the rest of the group consisting of Roger McGuinn guitar, Chris Hillman bass and George Grantham ex Poco on drums and they blew the roof off that old Opera House that night. Gene with his huge powerful,warm,rich voice was just magnificent such a great singer Roger McGuinn also played an electric guitar solo which was hauntingly apt and beautiful as part of the performance of Release me Girl. All these guys together put on one of the best shows I ve ever had the pleasure and privilege to enjoy,truly memorable 11 years ago
