If it's impossible then why try? I'm not criticizing you by the way - far from it, just curious. I've wrestled with these questions myself and I think that 'evolving from instinct' or whatever it can be called, is an un-winnable fight against Nature, in which Nature eventually wins and makes us pay with interest. Maybe there's no need to fight it, but embrace it in a way that neither yields to it or militates against it - an easy equilibrium.
