Could it also be that he meant it as Behold the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world with in us??? Meaning we are the example? We too can be the lamb of God??? Maybe not necessarily by sacrificing ourselves on a cross like Jesus did....But our every day sacrifices and experiences with God that we go through on an every day bases.... After all didn't in the Gospel of Tomas it say.... The Kingdom of God is with in you and all around you, not in sticks or stones?
