Yet he used video more than most to promote his ideas and pre-shape people's ideas of what his music might be about, so he did not let the music speak for itself. A great musician, but going against his own grain here. Zappa was a guy who needed to argue, he'd seek out the norm then rebel against it, no matter what it was. He never seemed to agree with much in life, you can hear this in his music, always going against tradition, but I always wondered if his reasons were genuine or a publicity stunt for fame. It was his nature maybe. Always saw the glint in his eye and wondered if himself took it all seriously.

Also add to that this the new SSRI generation of no style or soul in music whatsoever, complete trash. Pretty much everything that comes out these days is either soulless fag college music or culturally bankrupt hip hop.

He's got a good point here. Unlike Gene Simmons blaming the fans.

Zappy shouldn't have complained. He's one of the few unorthodox artists who actually made a living out of it.

Your telling it like it is Frank... New Ball Game. Don't get caught out wearing tennis gear, when your going out playing Ice Hockey.

The modern music industry is a giant marketing machine. It's not about good music it is about selling corporate products and trends to gullible trendies.

Just got here from the Gene Simmons "fans killed industry" video and its like comparing an intelligent, accomplished and gifted musician and composer to a pile of shit, Gene Simmons is pretty much a pile of shit near Zappa.

Love you Frank! I know they wanted you to be boxed into this particular money making machine. However, your a true Inspiration for all artists everywhere.

Well Michael Jackson is the one who changed all of that..but the difference was,Michael Jackson cared about the music..he was always a visual Artist..MTV just came around the time when Michael was evolving into such an dynamic Artist. Timing..but not the end of the industry..
