Actually its because of those conflicting emotions and instincts that allows us to be human and co-exist.  For without those flaws. Humanity cannot exist, cannot live.  Its human nature to be violent and destructive, and yet compassionate and forgiving and to rebuild and explore whether for good or ill.  That is the one thing that makes us Unique. We have free will and the power of gods yet only live a short life in this universe.  That forces us to enjoy life, commit crime, wonders, to do everything in our power to be remembered by future descendents.  To live forever.
