While understanding the Artistic Development Solid State is going for now, I have to say the edge Solid State maintained is gone. As forerunners, and a grandfather label for the early scene, this label branded itself by fostering quality innovators with quality images. (Ex: He Is Legend, Underoath, August Burns Red, Training for Utopia which became Demon Hunter, etc.) Because of it's eye for talent, and policy for innovation and packaging, it developed large "cash cows", being Underoath, August Burns Red, and possibly Demon Hunter. (My criteria for labeling these "cash cows" is based on their ability to sellout international arenas, gold records some have achieved, and the various awards each has won. ) If you will notice, Underoath retired (and the front-man signed his new project under a different label), August Burns Red signed under a new label, and the last (if considered a "cash cow") has lessened in progress. It seems after the recent loss of August Burns Red, they are having to consolidate their market position by focusing the Artist Development around the same sound. (Following after the same as Sumerian, Rise, etc) In a market that's seems to be slowing dwindling, this seems to be a sound decision. However, how can this label expect to proactively increase itself if it looses the original "innovation and quality packaging" policy that once flourished it? Can a balance between innovation and market consolidation be achieved by a former "indie metal" great? I think not only can it be done, but it must. If too many solid (but generic) bands ,such as the one above, are on Solid States roster (which it's going that way) they have to be fostered differently, fed little, or removed. Such as had been done to Once Nothing.

I never had to be anythingUntil I saw myself in the mirrorAt that point, what I saw was lost hopeAnd knew there was time for a changeThis world will be forgottenJust don't leave it empty nowThis world will be forgottenJust don't leave it empty nowSometimes we paint these pictures, just to start all overWe realize where these colors take usThey're bleeding through the canvasTo reproduce our image into something more distinctiveInto something more distinctiveThese thoughts grow into newfound effortsAnd time never seems to be on our side (on our side)Until we hang these art forms on the walls around usAnd continue to be unsatisfiedAnd I don't wanna live like this againI thought you said it would be so simpleAnd I can't continue to live like thisBecause my own plans aren't so wishfulBecause my own plans aren't so wishfulI dream and dream but never seem to be on page with my own visions (my own visions)But I'll take the path where my Maker leads meAnd strive to be a tool in His hands>

Love the drumming style! I hear a little bit of Matt Greiner and Luke Holland in there...makes it so good to listen to! It might help that the album in general is fantastic too

I like the last minute of this song. Such a mildly sung verse with not much buildup yet it feels moving and significant to me.

I know everyone has been calling this band generic and even I have to admit I didn't think I'd really like this at all. But listening this many songs in I notice that it's a surprisingly relaxing metal sound. Like the tones in the guitars and sound choices are pleasant and somewhat other worldly without getting too much lost into it.So at first listen they are genric, but there is enough variety in it if you listen hard enough.

the vocalist reminds me of amarna reign's vocalist! Not to say they sound unoriginal, they have a good unique sound!

I just don't understand bands that make no effort to do something original. I get that everything derives from something else and pure originality is impossible, but can't we draw a line somewhere before this? Do at least ONE thing we haven't heard from at least ten bands already.

Finally having heard the "other side" of the material compared to Force Fed; I miss Jordan. It's just not the same band or music anymore. If I heard this band only thanks to Solid State for the first time, I'd probably like it... but the past 2 albums put this stuff to shame. If I ever get the chance to see you guys live again for the... 8th? time if I remember, I'm never going to hear Moths and Rust or Succubus again. Kramer just can't do it.

This band is very promising, solidstate was very wise to sign them. that being said, the drummer is amazing. He doesn't overdo it nor is he just another mediocre drummer. He's definitely on a Danny Carey level of drumming.
