Five by Five were an Arkansas band that used lots of fuzz in many of their records - & this record is no exception. In 1968, their release of the Jimi Hendrix song, "Fire" went to #52 on Billboard. An album "Next Exit" was quickly released & included more remakes than original work. "Hush" had been been a top 10 hit earlier in the year by Deep Purple. Written by Joe South, Billy Joe Royal's version had appeared on the charts in 1967.

The band from Magnolia, Arkansas recorded for Paula Records during 1967-1970. "Next Exit" was Five by Five's lone album, which contains their charting single, "Fire". Five other album tracks were released as singles, including their debut 45 "Shake a Tail Feather"; "Fruitstand Man"; "Ain't Gonna Be Your Fool No More"; "She Digs My Love"; and "Too Much Tomorrow". Five by Five's fan-base was concentrated along the US Gulf Coast, and they were a featured draw at colleges & dance clubs. 13 years ago

Their keyboard player is certainly NO MATCH for Jon Lord of Deep Purple. 'Cos it's the dazzling keyboard work of Jon Lord that actually "makes" the song. In this case, however, whatever this guy's playing, it's not the least interesting.Videos Relacionados
