This song is incredible. The lyrics, the imagery, the flow, the instrumentation. It's all over the place, yet it comes together perfectly somehow.

Remember, George Harrison was a good friend of Tom Petty. He knew Tom's skill as a musician, and made him part of the Traveling Wilburys. That by itself speaks volumes.

fair enough, as I'm not a Beatles aficionado.

Ooh.....I don't know 'bout that...... Ya gotta remember WHEN the Beatles did stuff like, "Rain", "Tomorrow Never Knows", "Within you Without you"...... They did those when they were twenty something year old kids in a time when Chuck Berry was still kind of a big deal. Tom Petty is older, and has had years of influences to draw on. Tom is cool, and one of my favs for sure, but I always hesitate to underestimate the creative power of anything to do with The Beatles.

I am 19 and I was one of the lucky winners on the Tom Petty Facebook question. I love playing the drums, and most of the time is it 15 songs of Tom and the band. God bless the good music!

On a level with the Beatles.

Just heard this song for the first time with my Spotify subscription and could not get over the haunting influence of the Allman Bros, particualry Duane and Dickey. A little Liz Reed and Dreams infusing the Heartbreakers. Love it!!!!

I love the song (although the very beginning is annoying)... But the quality of this video isn't too great. The pitch is a bit higher. It's lost a bit of smoothness due to that (I'm on 480p).
