Live performance from their latest DVD Folk's Not Dead!

Lyrics:

There were three gypaiea coming to my hall door

Down the stairs ran this lady-o

One sang high and the other sang low

And the other sang a Bonny, Bonny, Biscayo

It was up the stairs that the lady went

Put on her silk and leather o

There was a cry from around the door

She's away with the raggle-taggle gypsy-o

It was late that night when the lord came in

Enquiring for his lady-o

The servants said on every hand

She's away with the raggle-taggle- gypsy-o

0 saddle for me my milk white steed

Go fetch me my pony-o

That I may go and seek my bride

Who's away with the raggle-taggle gypsy-o

0 he rode east and he rode west

He rode through-the copses-o

Until he came to a wide open field

It was there that he spied his lady-o

0 what made you leave your house and your land

What made you leave your money-o

What made you leave your new-wedded lord

To be off with the raggle-taggle gypsy-o

0 what do I care for my house and my land

What do I care I for money-o

What do I care for my new-wedded lord

I'm off with the raggle-taggle gypsy-o

ich sage nur: Typisch Fiddler´s Green, mehr muss ich nicht sagen... :)Ein Wunder nur, dass die Zuschauer nicht aus der Puste gebracht wurden... naja, dafür wohl dann eher das falsche Lied^^

Yep, of course, that makes perfect sense. I obviously need a psyhologist because I find lame shitty music like this unappealing. A good point well made. Thanks for that Oscar Wilde.

Auch wenn sie Live spielen sind sie geil, die Jungs projizieren den Spaß auf's Publikum, richtig gut! :-) Zu einem Konzert von Fiddler's Green würde ich jederzeit wieder gehen.

Not at all new here. Luckily I avoided this crap until now. And you are talking out of your arse. Playing tired old standards in the most generic was possible is about as copycat as you can get. I dont want to waste any time at all learning about a band that sounds as dreadful this. If you want to be an old folk retard that's all very well, but dont try to defend this much as being new or fresh.

I can only agree with you. It took me only one evening to look up different music from Fiddler's Green to realize what a span they have in there music styles and I think it's totally cool they sing old trad. tunes too, as they do it there own way and really good too. There's a reason why some trad. music never dies and that'd because it's powerful somehow, and Fiddler's Green keeps it living in that way :-)

You are new here aren't you? do you have any idea how much material these guys have made? They such a variety of music (both original and traditional) that anybody calls them copycat or uninnovative clearly hasn't got a clue what they are talking about. I recommend you learn about the band before assuming that your stupid arse uneducated opinion is greater than anyone elses.

I know that this is from a few months ago, but I'd still like to say this. Fiddlers green is a far more original band than Mumford and Sons. Now don't get me wrong, I like them both, but fiddlers green have a lot more musical influences and they know perfectly how to combine those with traditional Irish music. Just look for the version on Celebrate! Furthermore, they know how to write original songs without resorting to the same standard tricks all the time (eg double time in the middle of song)

They're amazing musicians and very nice, always up to talking to their fans after concerts. I don't care what everyone else thinks about this song or Fiddler's Green, I just lean back and enjoy their wonderful music.

Honestly, it's like conversing with a retard. As you might notice some artists take a genre whether it be modern or traditional and then write new material within that medium. Like Jack White took old Delta Blues for example and turned it into something fresh. He didn't just release a load of tired old cliched songs performed to death by every crap local band out there. Loads of groups took folk music and made something new with it. But not these average nobodies.

I mean canon in the general terms of established popularity you should look it up (eg. the canonical greek tragedy etc). It's not just a musical term. How can this be a cover given there is no original author? It is a traditional song, moron. The whole point of traditional music is that it is always the same. Perhaps if you understood something of the history of folk music you might understand. Perhaps when you got an education you might be worth talking to.
