Said incorrectly, mind you. It's just not true. I mean, Kreator and Sepultura were probably playing closer to 'Death Metal' than Slayer ever had before that album came out. Then of course, the immensely influential 'Seven Churches' by Possessed was released in '85, a full year before 'Reign in Blood'; and is probably considered by just about everyone as the Prot0-Death Metal album, and the record the likes of Death and Morbid Angel took much of their influence from.
