I thought I had an everlasting love.  Then, one day...for no reason my wife tells me "we were married too young and I need to do other things....I still love you but I want a divorce".  Now I have only have an everlasting emptiness and sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

The Mummies are an allegory. A symbolic representation of eternal love. The Egyptians of ancient Earth, believed in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Once you have shed your corporeal form (your body) you travel to an alternate realm of consciousness in the afterworld and the only non-physical thing you can bring with you is love. This video is tactfully illustrating that even after death, their love is still "alive" (walking the streets, enjoying each others company in their mummified suits) proving that their love is infinite and completely impervious to the passage of time. Yes, this video is "crummy" by 2017 standards but considering it was launched in 1989, it is still transmitting a very deep and spiritual message which demonstrates the song itself has also withstood the passage of time. Well Done Howard Jones!
