Hoyt did a lot of great things. And his momma wrote "Heartbreak Hotel." And his cousin was a U. S. Senator from Oklahoma. I'll never forget when he did an acapella version of a spiritual on "Nashville Now." Hoyt sonorously sang, "Blessed Savior, lead and guide us." This on top of "The No No Song." Hoyt was very much a musical genius. As a fellow musician, I performed Cat from Kalamazoo and Evangelina. Evangelina is the only song that I have ever played that reaches the flatted seventh via the minor third and it's such a beautiful change. It occurs in the first line of the bridge/chorus. I'm not saying that change doesn't exist in other songs, but none that I ever performed.10 years ago
