Etta Jones' reading of this song tears me up. She absolutely owns it. The heartache and longing in her voice, on this song, is so honest; it's almost unbearable. Obviously, in this version, the narrator does not believe what she says. She is already in love with that stranger. Very sad but tremendously beautiful and masterfully delivered. Bravo!

Where in hell, can I find the tenor sax sheet music to this beautiful piece of art, so I can make it happen for me and others. Please help me out, I've tried googling, midi converting but can't find a midi... I'm so sad right now!

"Don't Misunderstand" from the album " My Mother's Eyes" . It is currently available on CD. The cover photo is Etta's daughter, Catherine who passed in 1986. I am proud to have known Etta and to have been her friend.

Could someone please help me know a). The name of this song b). which of her CDs/Albums is this song on? And I mean this particular version. It's haunting. So emotional for me.

It's not an intro... Houston just takes a chorus of solo.

The more i hear of the pair of them, i realize what a perfect combination they made each listening to each other ,and they really were two true proffesionals that will go down as music legends. Graham

She sings the best version of this Song, I like Carmen McRae and Nancy Wilson singing it but Etta Jones has so much more in her voice to me:) and it has the best instrumental too :D This is a vastly underrated song and vocalist

Etta's career was 1944-2001, her best work in the '60s with Oliver Nelson and Jug. Some of the later recordings suffer from too much reverb and electronica in the orchestrations (as on this example). But she's on my list of the top 5-7 jazz vocalists of the last century.
