The Israeli voice!

She grows tense with the high notes and she cleverly reduces volume to a near whisper to conceal her inability to sing the higher notes well. Her voice suits low notes best. In another life time she would have chosen the same songs Any Winehouse chose to sing, or tried to sing.

Morning Has Broken" is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon.English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens (known as Yusuf Islam since 1978) included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens when it reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the U.S. easy listening chart in 1972.This version of Esther is magnificent, amazing and wonderful. Thanks, from Brazil.

I have a great affection for Jewish people, although I am a Gentile !!. Their girls are beautiful, and Esther's voice is nothing short of enchanting. I am also of an age when I remember her at her zenith in the 1960's, and I was dating a Jewish girl at the time!! Why are people like her not singing today?

She had to wear the wig in the 60s because of Abi wanted her to. I don't know why she later wore the wig, maybe she wanted to hide her shyness or so. You never know!

Sorry for going on about an issue which isn't music related at all but I'm just curious has she ever explained what was the point behind wearing all those wigs instead of showing her own hair? She never seemed very religious to me and her natural hair looked/looks just fine..

From about 1963 to 1979 Esther NEVER wore her own hair, she always used wigs only! So in the Leonard Cohen documentary she had a wig and in morning has broken she also had a wig. The long hair, which she had with Abi, also was a wig. There don't exist any official fotos/videos with her without any wig of this time! Watch videos of 1979 and later, there you see her own hair!

I'm a little confused about the hair though. She had much shorter hair in the Leonard Cohen documentary from the same year...
