Carl Radle, besides his impeccable groove/feel, is a true professional. He does a great job covering up his mistake, of changing to the IV chord a couple bars early, at around 4:11. In his defense Clapton does approach the next bar with a lead in vocally that implies(or could imply) a change to the IV , but he did two things that made for a seemless cover up. First he was LISTENING. A much too often overlooked skill/abilty which is invaluable when performing live, regardless of what instrument you play. And he kept the GROOVE. His timing wasn't affected by him changing to the IV early. He was able to hear and then correct his mistake within a few beats, while staying right in the pocket. Thats why 99% of people listening would never know, as I'm sure he intended!
