my only criticism is that i wish she would have done one chorus in a higher octave. i know she can do it....but i guess her style isnt really to show out!!

thanks. sorry for getting argumentative. you're probably talking to the wrong guy, my most played artist is Have A Nice Life, a supremely depressive band. Its not because I'm emo but i just love the emotion in the music. Sad songs don't make me feel like shit, they make me feel human and humbled. Frankly I think there is something beautiful about the dark recesses of human emotion. And my band has progressed a lot since those videos were upped. I love both happy and depressing music equally.

To be honest i'm from your school of thought, I mean I agree with what your saying about the artistic merit of a song but are you saying if a song made you feel like shit you'd listen to it again and a again because of a nice shuffle in the drums? A sad tone doesn't disregard other parts of the music but potentially, rightly or wrongly, outweighs it. The sadness reduces ones overall enjoyment of the song. It's would be close-minded to overlook tone. I looked at your band you're pretty good.

and mood is a reason to dislike poetry only if you feel that the artist could have done better at using the words to BETTER establish the mood. If the mood of the poem is very dark and sad but it is tastefully executed then I can appreciate the artistic integrity and thought that went into it. You can dislike it for whatever reason you want, but like i said I specifically disagree with the methodology behind judgement of an artistic work if all you're willing to consider is the lyrical topic.
