Lyrics:

Train I ride, sixteen coaches long

Train I ride, sixteen coaches long

Well, that long black train, got my baby and gone

Train, train, comin' round the bend

Train, train, comin' round the bend

Well, it took my baby, but it never will again

No, not again

Train, train, comin' down, down the line

Train, train, comin' down, down the line

Well, it's bringin' my baby, 'cause she's mine, all mine

She's mine, all mine

Train, train, comin' round, round the bend

Round, round the bend

Train, train, comin' round, round the bend

Round, round the bend

Well, it took my baby, but it never will again

Never will again

Such a raw track. This cuts to the heart of it all. To me what makes this song is the fact that Elvis came in early after Scotty Moore's solo, and because the track felt right, they released it because it had "IT."

Elvis Presley`s That`s all right recorded in 1954 _ Bill Haley`s Rock around the clock recorded in 1955,but does it matter, this site is about Elvis`s brilliant version of Mystery train.

So sad to think that today's youngsters will never know the pure joy and excitement on hearing something like this, at a time when dating and innocence were still prevalent. Drugs meant an aspirin, and a drink meant a warm beer! And you respected your girlfriends parents. Where's it all gone? Hell in a handcart.

Mystery Train IS my favorite Elvis- he ends it w/a Rebel Yell like none other Elvis listened to same R&B singers we did- said of Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup that "IF he could ever get to the PLACE Crudup was at, he'd be a music man like the world never saw!" MeThinks he made it

On this day in 1955 {August 20th} Sun Records released "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" b/w "Mystery Train" by Elvis... On February 25th, 1956 "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's C&W Best Sellers chart and remained on the chart for well over a half-year {39 weeks}... "Mystery Train" itself almost made the Top 10; it reached #11 on the C&W chart {original by Little Junior's Blue Flames in 1953, also on Sun Records}... R.I.P. to The King {1935 - 1977}...
