As we all praise Elton - as we should - for this awesome performance, let's not forget the genius who wrote the lyrics.

In 1974, I went crazy for a song called 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me', and ran out and bought Caribou. 'Ticking' is the final song, and it stopped me in my tracks. I was 13, and lived in NYC at the time. I knew exactly the sort of thing this song was about. It happened so much more, in the '70s... And it is shocking to everyone around the world.

'Ticking' doesn't translate well into Spanish. LOL

@izzonj Too true; our society just seems to grow more violent.

Before it's time. Unfortunately no. Senseless violence and gun deaths have been part of our country for a long time. It is so sad that we still have it, more than ever.

I just recently heard this song within the month. It is such a great song and it was WAYYYYY before it's time. Think Columbine... this was before that happened and it was nearly the same! It's an amazing song.

What an amazing song. The perfect mix of lyrics and music - I wish he would play this one more often at the live shows.

Always loved this song since Caribou. It's like a tragic, poignant beautiful movie. Outstanding lyrics and music and performance.

Very clever song, this. Elton's left hand providing the constant 'tick' by playing in octaves rhythmically adds great effect. Brilliant.
