Although I completely get the comments about Jeff Lynne's legendary dickishness, I can't agree that this performance doesn't suffer from the absence of his musical directorship and vocals. While his vocal chops aren't virtuoso, they are distinct and pleasing to the ear of many.

RIP Kelly Groucutt. Say what you want about his singing but he kept ELO alive during the late eighties thru the nineties for the fans. Don't forget he was the backing vocals for Jeff Lynne and ELO. Rest in Peace Kelly!

Jeff Lynne sure screwed up a good thing he had for himself didnt he??? These guys are great. Kelly is GREAT. This version of Xanadu is so much better than what Jeff Lynne did to it. All these guys do great on the songs. No doubt about it.

The main problem with all of it was/is Jeff's stinginess; He also forgot his friends here and started treating everyone as an employee. first he dismisses the string section except for Mik via form letter, then let the great Kelly Groucutt escape because he wouldn't allow any co writing or other imput on the finished product...from what i understand it frustrated Kelly so much its one of the reasons he left.
