When she sang this one was when I felt she would surely win. Alas, she was always steered toward more "rock" genre songs. Too bad. Her phrasing as she walks to the main stage is as inspired as anything I've been moved by. The way a Sinatra or McCartney might do it. This is just ridiculous! Performances like this remind me why Elise is one of my favorite contestants of all time! She was amazing! Now looking at this season of Idol (14), none of the girls can compare to the greats like Elise Testone, Haley Reinhart, or Angela Miller.

this song makes me cry whether it was sung by billy joel or elise. ths song has elements of honesty and vulnerability that makes it so beautiful no matter what time. i'm born in the 90's and only learnt ths song last yr and i can say it's timeless.
