Electronic's debut single. This version was on the UK Factory 12inch and didn't feature on the UK C.D. Was on the U.S. CD maxi single. This version is rawer than the other versions and features a great piano riff towards the end of the track.

the backing synth track does sound like "There is a light that never goes out", just a coincidence tho...

More likely...you are a Morrissey hater and are trying to find meaning in something where there isn't.

Good theory. But, I reckon "getting away with it" could refer to alcohol / drug abuse etc. A clue is the glass of whisky on the front cover above. Bernard is well known for his excesses in the past (particulary substances).

This song is a parody of Morrissey's self-indulgent lyrics for the Smiths. "I love you more than you love me" -- exactly the kind of stuff Morrissey did over and over again. But Morrissey was talented and charming so he "got away with it" (got away with his endless self-indulgence). This is really brilliant pop music -- smart and catchy at the same time.
