This world is a mess. It's created based on an idea, not the real truth. We're living in it, under it's rules, yes. But we need to change it, I know it sounds "utopic", but there are solutions my friend. There really are. I believe in things, I've experienced things, and I love to say that this isn't everything. Not at all. Still, that life you're describing, that "hippie" life; well, in a world where resources are bast, where we could live in abundance if we were well orginized it's real.11 years ago

And, just for the record, I listen to "man on fire," and "I don't wanna pray" everyday while I am going through my monotonous routines of everyday life, because it takes me away to a fantasy land that I wish I lived in. Then I am hit hard in the face by traffic, school, work, studying, peers... and this is not my passion. To be honest, I wish I had the passion of this guy and the willingness to follow my dreams, like he writes in his songs. I dream of this guy's life, but have lost hope.11 years ago

True that my friend, and I am fighting the suit everyday while simultaneously going to school to be an engineer, but what you fail to realize, is that you are endorsing some fantasy lifestyle. Also, when artists are interviewed, they put on a persona that i feel like this guy went too far with in this particular interview. I love his music, and can relate to his song, 'man on fire,' but I think he lost his words in this interview, and sort of killed his great ideas with his words.11 years ago

What is really sad here is your inability to see things as being more than two extremes. Because the "hippie" lifestyle you were living brought you to financial ruin you must cut the hair, don a business suit and read the stock reports every morning and eschew "hippie" bullshit? I find this guy to be somewhat inspiring and pretty goddam full of himself, but having a mentality of striving to be all you can be and follow what passions lie within your heart is far from being bullshit.11 years ago

@justinballew you cant tell me or anyone else what and what not to believe. just because that life didnt work out for you doesnt me it wasnt ment for me i know some pretty old free spirits who are completely happy and content with there lives you dont have to live in a tent to be a hippie its a state of mind. not a physical appearance. give life a chance. almost positive you'll be happier. free your mind and yourself. om nashi me.11 years ago

I love their music, but listen, there are some people that can ignore the adult world and be OK. Exhibit A, this guy. Others (me), if I were to say I wanted to be a superhero and fuck the adult world, I would die of starvation in about 3 minutes. I once believed in this hippie bullshit, then I got older and realized my parents wouldn't feed me forever. My wake up call was running out of money 1500 miles from home, and decided I couldn't be a hippie forever. Don't believe this shit kids.11 years ago
