@opentheblastdoor - Being based on Unix and having access to the shell, versus Windows for example with a stripped down command line interface. They both have pros and cons, but there is nothing really you CANNOT customize in a MAC that you CAN in Windows... in fact it may be the other way around unless you rely on third party software to do the work for you by running additional programs in memory like widgets. What exactly can you customize on a windows PC that you cannot customize on a MAC?

@TGSibtrippin226 - You really should do some research. Of course using a mac is a personal preference? Well it could also be the only gear in the studio you use, which is often the case... but EVEN PLAYING MUSIC is a preference... So what is your point? Is there one? As for mac;s getting hit hard with virii? When will this fabled day come? You do know macs have been around decades right? You do know why virii dont SPREAD on mac right? Also there IS tons of antivirus programs for mac? fail..

Yeah, when I got infected in 2005, it was one of the semi-decent viruses. I didn't know what an MBR was at the time, so I was infected up until 2006. And it was my fault, for being dumb in believing I had to open up this website to crack a program I had in IE in order to use it. lol The thing is, is that there isn't such a thing as security. There is only such a thing as *some* security. Even linux is flawed. Sudo, for instance, would be easy to use to bypass and compromise someone's system.

@Kelpalots - Aww I see, well that was a dumb user error.. Not much can solve that, not much worse than opening bad software or falling for an email "phishing" scheme. Always will be a lot of those people who cant be helped hehe There are some flash/java etc. exploits which can be sent without the need of a dumb user, just a dumb browser and bad securtiy :) Those browsers are always having flaws..

I never said it was mine. I haven't been infected with a virus since 2005. I worked on a computer in which a guy let someone else use it and they didn't use firefox, they used IE. So the ad wasn't blocked, they freaked out thought they were infected, and fell for the ol' ad trick of making you believe you're looking at explorer and that you're infected. Which in fact is just another unoriginal Stop Sign trick.

@Kelpalots - Script kiddies dont write the stuff only use it. Your right thought its mostly script kiddies. Pretty much even the crappy virus's now days are good enough to attack all browser flaws though, thats OLD hat... The myspace virus you got for example was one... Important, YOU GOT THE VIRUS! so it worked even if simple and obvious, you were infected... if it was set to delete your files instead of just making folder. Your virus even had write access and was obtained through myspace! sad

@negatyve - Windows did the same thing, as did most every operating system before they could no longer hide it... They always hide the problem until they create a patch, leaving people vulnerable in the meanwhile and completely ignorant of the facts to help them protect themselves. Linux is probably the only one that doesnt do it due to community based code. Also due to the UNIX based OS, virus can do much less damage in most cases due to access control (permissions) harder to spread itself.

There are, however, the very few rarities that are really good and make you just have to work for it to get it removed. I never get to see much of those, because my boyfriend's into that stuff and when he finds THOSE viruses on people's computers, it's not me who gets to play with it. But I do get to hear it like a football game, lol. "Oh so you're hiding in the kernel memory now? Aww! Too bad! I just cleaned you right out!..."

Kelpalots K for Kelpies

LOL! Do you seriously believe people are smart enough to make REAL shit like this? I've been removing viruses from computers for several years now with my boyfriend, and they are usually extremely obvious bullshit viruses that some script kiddie got off of milw0rm. Last time it was from an ad on myspace, and the virus was in folders labeled to look extremely obvious. Infact, same one I've seen. On Google Chrome. It asks you if you want it to execute a file from this website. I wasn't infected.

Mac prides itself on security through obscurity. The fact that the majority of malicious software writers nowadays aren't the curious sort of 20 years ago, but criminals, they target the platform with the largest potential for infection. Apple often takes the liberty of waiting months to patch known holes just because the risk of a large scale attack is significantly minimized by the fact that windows has millions of more potential infections, even for holes that have been patched over a year.
