From "Pieces of Edgar" CD. Solo arrangement by Edgar Cruz www.edgarcruz.com www.cdbaby.com

I first recorded this in the 80's on cassette in it's original key of "C" in standard tuning but knew that a better tuning would be the answer. Dropping the 6 to D and 5 to G and playing it in the key of "G" made it all come together. This is and has always been one of my favorite tunes of all time. A grand challenge!

One question: is the 6th string in D and the 5th in G, or the tune is standard?

Excellent. That's as good as Bolero gets with the guitar

I'm sorry if I sound a bit ignorant, but I was wondering why you chose to use steel string guitar for this.

You played Bolero masterfully. Well done. I clapped at the ended, it was inspiring.

it's pretty good, but seems to be many little uncomfortable timing errors for a guy dressed up to play...

I think for him to capture the song on solo guitar it works best with steel strings so as to try and get a close a sound to the Oboe playing the melody in the original. And the base on the steel string is much louder which helps alot. (see the size of the body on that guitar!) Plus he has to go high up on the fret board too...and that is a cut away steel string so he would be on the 16th fret i think. plenty of reasons why he used a steel G. It would be good to hear on the classical nylon though

This is amazing i just feel like he is using the wrong type of guitar i think a classical guitar with nylon strings would sound way better. Amazing guitar version anyway.
