I was at this gig, as well. A very young man grooving to Blind Faith (distinctly average and not destined to survive for very long). I think that the Third Ear Band (interminably dull and only made any sort of sense if you were stoned out of your box) and Richie Havens also appeared. I have memories of Donovan putting in an appearance, but maybe I'm confusing it with another Hyde Park gig.I used to love the EBB. Listening to them now, though.............. Hmmm.Musicianship that would disgrace a teen band playing at a church hall gig. Steve Broughton was about the only one who could play.

It was sunny and very hot. I've got a vague memory of two of the band passing out on stage, leaving the drummer to close the set by himself - may have been a gimmick! It's good to remember how so many big acts performed for free in those Hyde Park gigs. Organisation seemed to be non-existent our side of the stage but they were all happy events. as m

It was as I recall sunny! Good job - it had been chilly sleeping in the Park in liberated deck chairs all night! Blind Faith pretty average. EBB the best of the bill. '69 was a good year!

I was there with a few from school, very hot day. I remember edgar broughton chanting ' out skinheads out', as there seemed to be a few hanging around near the trees where we were, but nothing happened. donovan, ritchie havens, and third ear band very good. was slightly disappointed with blind faith, but seems ok now. also went to sisle of wight and rolling stones, plus lots of other good stuff. would be good to do again, but am always recreating it, like now.

Edgar could not sing to save his life; he sounded ridiculous. Was he a Captain Beefheart fan or what?

Hi Halstead Guy, I take it that's the Halstead in Essex? I was from Maplestead and used to knock around Halstead around that time, was at this concert at the park, as well as a few of the other free ones at the time, might even have known you. Agree about the sound systems, but the atmosphere was great

"Makin' Love With Your Mother".......think Edgar omitted that line....not to spoil the "correct" vibe....?.....Nice find.Always wondered what Edgar's performance had been like,at that better known Stones gig..
