Formed in South East Essex, Eddie & The Hot Rods were one of the most influential and successful proto-punk bands to appear on the UK pub circuit in the early/mid seventies. Armed with a repertoire of amphetamine Rhythm n Blues numbers, both covers and originals they stormed the bars and venues of Britain, playing to wildly enthusiastic young audiences, desperate for something new and exciting. With a couple of fairly successful singles under their belt their first major coup was headlining the City Rock Festival in Chelmsford City Football Stadium in 1976 with Slaughter and the Dogs, John Peel, Chelsea and Aswad also on the bill. In October that year they released their debut album Teenage Depression, which became an indie hit. Soon they were playing with the likes of The Ramones, Talking Heads and Tom Petty and in 1978 they recorded two singles with Rob Tyner of the MC5 on guest vocals. The same year they enjoyed their greatest when they topped the bill at the Reading festival and had a top ten hit with the anthemic single 'Do Anything You Wanna do,' which is now rightly regarded as a bona fide rock n roll classic.

Thirty years on and Eddie and the Hot Rods are still touring, recording and releasing records; there fan base comprised of die hard old school Hot rod fans and kids in search of quality, hard hitting good fun rock n roll. They have lost little if any of there revved up edge, pleasing crowds across Europe in the fashion they have become accustomed to. No frills just pure cool energy. This film contains footage of the band playing to an enthusiastic crowd at the Bottom Line, Shepherds Bush, England on 11th May 1996 and is part of the legendary Barn End archive.
