Both Sharon Sheeley & Eddie asked the taxi driver to slow down but he was obviously in a hurry to get home cause he kept vamping up the speed. He basically lost control of the vehicle at a crucial point & we lost a legend. No good recriminating now. It wasn't murder but it sure was reckless driving. Sharon lost her sweetheart & we lost one of the greatest rock'n'roll performers of all time. Saw him at Finsbury Park & was blown away by how good he was! Gene Vincent in black leather - all very well - but Cochran played that Gretsch guitar like a dream & had the greatest natural rock'n'roll voice ever heard. Just listen to "Cut Across Shorty" "Summertime Blues" or "C'mon Everybody!" He was ahead of his time! Eddie was up there with Chuck & Elvis & Buddy. I miss him like hell! ONE HELL OF A PERFORMER! Gene was sposed to be the headliner but he couldn't follow Eddie so they had to put Eddie on last!9 years ago
