I played this entire album over and over when I bought it in 1980 or 81 after hearing "Rescue" in a night club . It blew me away .... They were so much better than all the bands at that time. The album still sounds good today!

Jonah Stevenson - Drum Machine Hey. I'm mercilessly promoting my new song across Youtube, on songs by people I like. And I put up the song you're watching so you can't really complain... Check it.

Such a great, lean album. This album cover started the Eighties US college student trenchcoat thing, I think.

when i purchased this lp, it was cuz of 'urrrhgh a music war' and the 'puppet' vid. brilliant song. short. succinct. minimal chords, a proper gtr run which spoke of the lean, reaganistic / thatcherality of the times. there was literally the same atmos as of the '63 kennedy era of who will drop a bomb first. scary, sparse, angered times. bewilderment. nihilism. fuck it. all. gonna die anyway. remember?

This song sounds like Television, a big influence on Echo & The Bunnymen!

Had my mp3 and what I thought was this kicked in and then it turned out to be the Go-Betweens. Check out In the core of a flame by them, it's mad how similar it sounds.

Something about the Smiths and Echo that make being depressed such a wonderful thing.

the mood is somber & empty! the whole atmosphere & vibe of the record is melancholic. a definite downer. but the music & lyrics is of raw intensity. genius!
