I think you already know you're an awesome bassist, but you should change the title of this to "bass cover" and not lesson.  Aside from telling us what kind of bass you're playing, and making the bassline more audible by playing it, I don't know who could actually learn how to play the song from watching this video.  Great job; just saying this isn't a lesson in even the loosest terms.

@duranasty - He used digital delay to do both parts at once. A quick single slap on top and then a thump at them bottom and the delay repeats it for you.

how did john do the bass for wild boys on that gig.did he switch that at the top from the solo to the actual bass throught the song.cheers.

@markuz6971 - Exactly, that's how you play them. I recommend index finger and pinkie but do whatever feels comfortable. You are not the first one to describe them as pum-ba bum-ba. I sometimes say pa-rum-ba bum-ba myself! I think it's hilarious we have our own slang terms.
