@BFR579 Both the US and UK versions of "Road Trip" are available on Amazon.com and I-Tunes. See Duane Eddy and the Ventures at Viva Las Vegas being held at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vega, Nevada USA on April 7, 2012

Duane Eddy...is alive and still recording music. Amazon.com has the all new CD by Duane Eddy called "Road trip". Keep up with him on his FaceBook and Twitter account. Duane will appear on Top Gear in the near future.

@94336243 Duane's had a number of guitars. He had a Gretch, then moved on to a Guild. I believe he's currently playing a "Gibson Duane Eddy"

@94336243 He started on Gretsch Chet Atkins, his first signature guitar was a Guild but he's back with Gretsch now

Equivocating Toaster

@yashicat5 Duane Eddy was on a recent BBC interview about his new album. He was demonstrating how he gets his tone and style. It was pretty fascinating! One funny part is where he corrects the interviewer on what the "top string" is. Just search his name on bbc's site.

@94336243 I don't usually reply to posters... but are you insane? Yes he played Guild and had a signature model made by them but he's known for that Gretsch. Gretsch just released a Duane Eddy model (again) in 2011 after releasing one in 1997.

@jrodtopo for the time? It's hardly ben bettered really. Great guitarists come ad go but the best use vintage valve equipment

Dick Clark starred in a movie in 1960, "Because They're Young" that featured Duane in the soundtrack with the title song, this could be an excerpt scene from the flick. I haven't seen it since the mid '70's but it was a "coming of age" teen drama....Clark played a highschool teacher. The title song( an instrumental, of course) features Duane being backed with a symphony orchestra...it worked rather well....and still holds up.

@countrypaul You would be correct, this audio is the studio release. TV shows don't have the time or the inclination to allow artists to set up a complete live performance.

This looks like a "guitar-sync" (like "lip-sync") on one of Dick Clark's shows. Can anyone corroborate?

Great video and performance! Duane Eddy sounds superb, as always. Wow, audiences sometimes crack me up with their occasional tendency to get 'off the beat' with their clapping, somewhere in the middle of a song, and not even realize it.
