Live performance recorded on 15 October 1971 at Syria Mosque, Pittsburgh PA.

Riveting, electrifying slide guitar as only Duane Allman could play. This was the last show he ever did. Two weeks later he was killed in a motorcycle accident in Macon, GA - only 24 years old.

Wow! Duane tears it up. Such a loss at the height of his talents. Who knows what he might have gone on to do...

Dennis you are so on point, hardly heard any mention of Johnny Winter passing just a few days ago, Duane, Stevie, Johnnie, Jimi, Barry, the list goes on. All the greats are passing by too damn fast!!!

Duane and Johnny Winter. RIP to two superlative slide masters. Thank god we still have their music.

Was at this show, Wet Willie opened. Was at both shows that year at the Mosque. My all time favorite band.

Not sure if this was in fact his final show as the band played at Marietta College Gym, Ohio on the 16th October and in Owings Mills (Painters Mill Music Fair) on the 17th October.

This is Duane's last RECORDED performance, not actually his last performance.

There is no sound like these guys in their hay day, it set the stage for southern rock. Skynrd was good, Marshall Tucker was good too, but this IS the sound! Anyone that disagrees hasn't listened to the Allman Brothers band

Both of those men earned their reputation and fame on the stage, and sadly are no longer with us. Please let them rest in peace. Duane was good enough that we don't have to run down other guitarists to make him look better, especially not a good brother like SRV. What they did stands on it's own merit.

I'm always pleased to see how many people appreciate Duane still to this day. If you could have told him in 1971 that people will still be talking about him 40+ years later, I think it would have made him very happy. It does me. His guitar playing has always been an inspiration for me, it's not so much what you play, it's how you play it. This is the man that taught me that. No coincidence I play a honeyburst Les Paul Standard thru a baby Marshall stack either. Thanks for posting this.

Amen, Derek is a damn good slide player, but doesn't touch Duane as you said for phrasing THE sound and his melodies..... not enough words!
