Drowners boast an unusual mix of members with charismatic frontman Matthew Hitt hailing from Wales and the rest of band from New York. Hitt moved to the city several years ago and immediately found his home among the rich heritage of lo-fi guitar led music. After meeting Jack Ridley III, Erik Lee Snyder and Lakis Pavlou - Drowners was born.

Having just released their debut album, the band have been hitting the road hard, teaming up previously with Cage the Elephant (who Hitt say "ruined" their livers and Foals.

Tonight (5 March) will see them playing with Skaters and Dingwalls in Camden.

Stopping off at Vibe Bar just off Brick Lane, the band played us a stripped back rendition of single 'Love Hold Me Down', a laidback ode to love.
