The essence of any cover version surely is that it should add something to the original that the first version missed. Other than maybe getting a couple of plays on daytime radio, this offers nothing except to underscore just how good the original is. I'm sure Doc Walker is a nice bloke but he should stick to the day job and leave heartache songs to artists who can pull them off, like Del Amitri. 4/10

I like this cover version. For it is not merely a blueprint of the original song but adds a little bit of own interpretation. One should honor that and reflect that each cover makes a bow to the original. Only good things attract others to copy or cover them. So I am a huge fan of Del Amitri and Justin Currie, but I can live very well with this more country like version. It is really a bit too fast and it misses the languorous sadness of Justins original but it is also well sung, well played and entertains me, gives me a good time. What else should music do at the bottom line?

No, no, no. Too fast, and you lost the pain and emotion of Del Amitri's version. :/

I like Del Amitri's version much more, this is too upbeat, the tempo should be slower considering the meaning of the song. There's nothing here that a thousand other country bands couldn't do. It's not horrific, just meh.

I call Bulls**t. Amitri's version is good but (I am not a huge country fan) Doc Walker should be given due credit. His song is great and allowed people to understand that it was written by Del Amitri. I personally think that REALLY you should give Doc's version a closer listen instead of tearing it down. It's outstanding.; Good job, Doc and for the rest of you that think I'm full of krap - ask me if I care - just telling it the way it REALLY is. I could pooh poh on this too because it's REALLY COOL to tear down everything these days but I ain't gonna. Doc deserves a little lovin' on this one - DESERVING. Real nice job.

And another thing: I am not sure this guy is even an actual doctor. ;-)

Video is a bit to literal isn't it? No sensitivity, either to the song or the subject. Where is the artistry? Answer: nowhere.

HORSE. SHIT. Way to miss the entire soul and spirit of a song, poseur. Exactly what the two comments before this one said. Someone take this fuck out back and shoot him.

Del Amitri's version is about 200 times better. I love country music, but, just no to this one.

Very good version and I love country music, but have you actually listened to the lyrics of this song? It's about the termination of a baby, the way it's portrayed in the original is why the song is what it is.. the upbeat and happy aspect of this rendition just doesn't do justice to the meaning of the song. It's like doing a hip hop version of tears in heaven.

That is ok, you stick with your hick music, the rest of the world will stick with the original masterpiece ;)

No, Johnny Cash did a good cover of Hurt, apart from that, covers are generally karaoke. The bloke can sing, but a talent of epic proportions that is not, the ability to write lyrics, arrange music and put it all together in a timeless fashion is talent....ripping off lyrics and chords on a standard country music backdrop is not.
