These guys give American black metal a band name. Especially when we've produced so many great acts

When I first saw George live I thought he was some deranged Neo Nazi, but he looks like a really awesome guy IRL.

I just found out about this band and I find it very interesting. I like the album (Sunbather) and as much as I'm intrigued about how their style is called, I don't really want to label them as something generic. I love the vibe, I enjoy the music. It may be not conventional Black Metal (which I listen to occasionally), but it has the features, with exceptions, obvsiously. This resembles traditional BM a lot more than DSBM in my opinion.Wikipedia also labels them as Shoegaze (which I didn't really know about) and I have listened to some other band labeled so and, honestly, I find a similarity in the general vibe. But again, why is genre so important? Why would it be?Anyway, you've got thumbs up from me! :D

Its funny that deafheaven make a living of their music, while all their haters keep on typing shitty pathetic comments on their mother's pc.

Something Cool

Deafheaven isn't black metal, just because they have SOME black metal elements in their music that doesn't make them strictly black metal. And their influences diminished in sunbather, the black metal influences were mostly in roads to Judah. Its like calling venom strictly black metal. They're fucking thrash with satanic lyrics, they just made up the name and others borrowed it to create a new genre.

Black Metal is a very broad term that includes so many bands that are vastly different, and every single person who knows who those bands are - including the bands themselves - knows that Deafheaven is not included in that. Whether or not that matters is another topic, and the reason for it is something that can't be explained to someone who is delusional.Deafheaven and their fans may like to call it Black Metal, but until they perform with Watain, Carpathian Forest, Sargeist, etc. (for example), they will be a joke and an oblivious parody of their own subculture. The last show they played was with Converge, Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and other equally non-Black, non-Metal, non-Black Metal bands. And I thought Wolves In The Throne Room was bad hipster Black Metal, but at least they were influenced by Weakling and Leviathan.Fuck Deafheaven! And since we're all here, fuck vegans, hipsters, liberals, and yuppies. Fuck granola, yoga, hybrids, man-buns, skinny jeans, every city's midtown district, and definitely the planet Earth. But most of all, FUCK YOU!

They seem to have a cool vibrant lifestyle and an interesting sound to their music.. But I can't take someone seriously who writes a song about a nice big eloquent house he wants to live in...
