Beats by Dre, are technically, some of the worst sounding headphones out there. i met a sound design student / engineer, who gave me a graph, style visual representation of the sound signature, on Beats, and the quality is horrible. I am sure for cheaper, a decent pair of Audio Technica, are actually sonically better performing headphones.

Beats get so much hate, they are a little expensive yes but I honestly trust the ears of in my opinion the best hip hop producer in the world to put out the best headphones he possibly can. Most people who hate on them don't know a thing about mixing or sound so they just repeat what everyone says about them just because they think they look stupid

Dre and Jimmy Iovine pretty much stole the technology from Monster.I believe that Dre has really good engineering and especially production skills when he's in the studio but the headphones don't represent them in the slightest way.
