At about the same time, about 5 years ago, after a 7 year long relationship, as we were waist-deep in the arduous, soul crushing process of dissolvement, I made a mix tape for my ex as well. On it were the Dr. Dog tracks Say Something and Ain't It Strange, both of which were extremely heartfelt and totally accurate at the time. Needless to say, the mix tape did not work, though she said she liked it very much at the time. I found out recently that she still listens to it from time to time, perhaps when feeling nostalgic about the good ol' days, the days when we roamed the earth as one. I don't need to speculate as to the reasons, the reasons are hers, and I will nary know them. "A man who lives for nothing can change. 'Cause if he stays the same he'll die a million days. Year by year..." I've died a little inside each of those last 5 years. I haven't spoken with her in almost that long, and the coldness of her heart chills me to this day, though far less pronounced as the days when I was compiling said mix tape, and the chaos that ensued shortly after. Long story short, I'm fine now. Thank you Dr. Dog for helping me to get through all of that nonsense, what with your beautiful music and whatnot. You guys are the tops.

I love this song so much.... :') Makes me cry. I listen to it whenever I'm gone from home. It always makes me remember that everything'll be okay. I'll be home to my baby soon.

@mikegoodfss Dude! Speaking of fuck it, my and my cuz were at one of their shows and halfway through we screamed fuck it, but they didn't play it.. After they were done, they came back for an encore, which they played a couple great tunes like oh no, but, they finished off the show with fuck it :D I'm pretty sure me and my cousin were the only ones who knew what song it was :P

I always thought that Toothbrush was Dr. Dogs' best work though I wouldn't say that the quality has been lowered :)

My ex made me a mixed cd about a year ago and put this on there. I used to think it was really annoying and I would always skip it, but now that I've actually listened to it and since we're broken up now, it really chokes me up. I never knew how significant the lyrics were, and now that I'm a depressed sobbing mess instead of my usual perky, carefree self, the slow tempo makes a lot more sense to me.
