Shouldn't ya just forget comparing this to someone else's song, Cause it don't sound like Dylan at all. So what if it did? What a GREAT PERSON to be compared to? This is WAY COOL! Whatever happened to the music? I don't know a Women who wouldn't hold your hand a little tighter in the crowd listening to this GREAT SONG!!!!

IMHO, One of the finer live productions and performances of a song in a major venue. Period. It's magic when such talented musicians put something together like this - everyone doing their part to make the whole something so much greater. The studio version is great (because it's a great song) - but this one transcends - the slight up tempo, TP's vocals, Campbell's fills and solo, Blair, Thurston on the rythym with Ferrone's chops and of course Tench's amazing organs and piano. What a gift to have on Youtube.Thank you.

This song sounds so similar to Bob Dylan's "If not for you" to me.

No, but who really cares when YOU first started listening to Tom Petty and where YOU saw Tom Petty and when YOU saw Tom Petty with YOUR son. Your comment gives no useful, new or interesting information, just facts about your long time ago personal experiences, and that is dull and useless knowledge for most of us reading it.

Had to look up this long article. The piece can be summed up with a Petty quote, "we can really kick their ass, you know?" Yes, we do know.

I started listening to Petty in 1977...haven't stopped since. First time I saw Petty was at Red Rocks in 1981 and again in Germany ~1983. I also spent a ton of time in Mecca (Gainesville, his hometown) with my sons having graduated from UF. He truly is an icon!
