song of the naturalist's wife, sand and foam and my favourite The Satrfish Song - all share these magic riffs - he did an album For Little Ones - nearly all are on there - lullbies of course ...

I agree with the previous reviewer, the guitar riff in this song is super. Great song. Transports me back to the mid sixties.

I had this lp once. back in the day. Loved it and still do. I learned to play most of it on the guitar. I remember seeing Donovan on tv one night while the aurora borealis was lighting up the sky.

Only on a Donovan song would you find meaningful connection in the youtube comments <3

Thank you very much for the kind response and the connection! The way people share their thoughts and experiences around music, like you and fredjackamikoons did here, is to me one the highest values of YT. Thanks for the personal remarks too! An attentive observing child can gain a lot of wisdom. In my view those years were all about breaking the chains of repression, in many ways, with the civil rights movement up front. Breaking chains to create room again for all that's 'pretty and nice'.

Hi, 3DDoor: Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I like YouTube because we can learn so much from other people's comments. I was a teenager during the 60's, but I do not think of that era as a time of new ideas, styles, and concerts .. I lived a somewhat repressed childhood, wasn't connected to the "fun" stuff of that time. I remember the serious aspects of those years. My uncle( only 5 years older than me was in Vietnam) I was a very quiet child; read all the time and observed life around me. Nice.

It's great how you mention the 60s as a 'very tough decade'. I was very small at the time, but experienced a lot of the aftermath. It always bothers me when people idealize that period, while there were such hard battles going on, on many different levels. This song seems to capture the reason of the hunger for freedom, love and peace of that time. Greetings from The Netherlands, Door

Indeed, I totally share your concern about the Fukushima disaster. Not only because of possible coming dangers, but also the high level of radiation that has already been washed into the ocean. I read about the ongoing discussion about the safety of the design of the equipment by General Electric. It's shocking to see how the interests of a company can be in battle with the future of humanity... The challenge is how to mobilize people around the world for a ban of nuclear plants altogether.
