It's about the fact that most people are some annoying combination of fake and banal, like to talk about trivial nonsense, and just generally don't know when to shut up. You know, people who talk just for the sake of talking. Doing the cockroach = boring small-talk and superficiality. It's funny this song was written before facebook was invented. It's only gone downhill since.

I've heard 4 songs by them over 3 albums, this album without a doubt sounds the best, in my opinion. But this is probably because it has a more rock'y vibe to it, and I like hardcore music. But I might give MM a future listen as I quite liked this at times.
