In This DVD, the classic 4-to-the-bar rhythm is broken down into four separate usable styles. After that, Django's syncopated rhythm shots are analyzed and presented by example from a simple backbeat to 2-bar-long syncopated strums.

I like this for outlining the basic foundations of gypsy swing comping. Too many comments here complain about you dubbing in the lead guitar, but I would like to say I appreciate that addition to the video and find it absurd someone would be confused by that. You didn't add some huge dubstep track, you added the second player which is necessary for this style. If they can't hear multiple parts they should probably back off from jazz. I think you are aware gypsy comping is certainly far more than this, but it's foolish to skip straight to the complex techniques without understanding the root. I would like to add you should mention the 2 and 4 are emphasized beats, though the strings are dampened the beat is stronger which gives the swing feel.

reading the comments here i see there are many people who think this isn't a good video. Well, being a guitar player with a classical background, i actually thought this video was really nice to have a overview on the "basics" of this style. Thanks!;)

So annoying to have the lead guitar overlaid when you are trying to concentrate on following the rhythm. Would have been okay to end with a two guitar example, including both guitarists in the picture - that is assuming this is not an unforgivable overdub.

Emile Cristof, I can't figure out the constant YouTube changes and can't directly reply to you, but I wanted to thank you for listing the chords, I was scrolling down to ask that exact question. Cheers my brother! :)

This just isn't good enough. Sweet guy but not actually accomplished in this style. Voicings are all wrong, right hand completely wrong for this style.

Look up Gonzalo Bergara's lesson on rhythm. He disagrees with you, and I agree with him.

Good effort, but this is not even close to real gipsy style rythm

Some say Eric Clapton only uses two fingers on his left hand. But I agree Django was fabulous.

It seems to me he plays the upstroke between 2 and 3 and also between 4 and 1. So it's like the triplet ride cymbal rhythm in swing or bop drumming. (Stay thirsty my friends.)
