Except for the mix and mastering (way too compressed) this is one of the most spectacular metal tunes i've ever heard. The acoustic intro is a deadly riff, the lead guitar - so much feel. Vocals kill! It's hard to reconcile the inspiration in this recording with what came after!

. I'm not a big fan of the black metal scene but dissection alone stands out. I love how they take a dark, satanic message and almost candy coat it with enchanting fantasy/folklore elements. The type of shit that makes me want to play Skyrim. Jon's controversial story probably lost a lot of fans but it just makes the music more metal in my opinion hahaha

The way Jon crafted the first two albums made it seem like many other extreme bands were mere boys playing with powerful tools they could never fully understand or harness.
