That was a very old comment. He's been in this band a long time so he's obviously doing them right, he just sounded similar to when I first tried growls (which I was doing horribly wrong.) I don't like this particular type of vocals because, though the music is much more "brutal" than what I normally listen to, the vocals themselves sound a lot weaker, less supported, whatever. I've gotten heavier than structures (still like them though) but haven't reached death metal yet, probably won't.

btw this dude, matti way, is still gutturaling peoples face off. most likely without any damage to his chords cuz his stuff with abominable putridity has to be one of the most brutal vocal performances ive ever heard. ps get over that structures band and come join the dark side.

I thought he was doing them incorrectly because when I first started doing unclean vocals they sounded very similar to this... and now that I have more experience I know that I was doing them incorrectly because I was forcing the sound out through the throat. But if he's been doing it for 17 years and is still fine then I was wrong.

I understand that like all fans of this music do. The vocalist does these vocals correctly and has done so for at least 17 years. There are multiple ways to do guttural/growling vocals correctly and this shows just one of them. It's not incorrect because you don't like it.
